This week in P3IL…

This week in P3IL we have been very busy! In IDL, we have been making Christmas cards to sell at the Christmas Fayre. We are so happy with how they turned out, thank you to all who came along and bought cards!

In Maths and Numeracy, we have been working hard on multiplication and beginning to learn a bit about division.

In English and Literacy we have finished our news articles and been working on our reading strategies. Ask us about tommy tracker (following with your finger) and sound talk it (say each sound).

We are excited for the last few weeks before Christmas!

P3IL week beginning 25/11/19

This week was a short week but we did a lot of learning!

In Maths and Numeracy, we continued to learn how to multiply and the different language that can be used. This week we focused on creating equal groups and repeated addition in order to solve various multiplication challenges.

In English and Literacy, we have been working more on our news articles about the koala that was rescued from the bush fire in Australia.

In Science we have been learning about germs, how they spread and proper hand washing techniques to stop them spreading! We got to use UV gel and a UV torch to see how they spread and how effective our hand washing techniques are.  It was a lot of fun!

Looking forward to another week of learning!

This week in P3IL…

This week in Maths and Numeracy we have been working more on multiplication. We spent some time outside this week making arrays which was fun!

In science, we have began to learn about forces such as push and pull.

In literacy, we have been learning about writing our own news article. As our topic is Australia, we are writing our article about a woman who saved a Koala this week from a bush fire. We admire her bravery and kindness!

It has been another fun filled week and we look forward to next week!

Last week in P3IL wb 11/11/19

Apologies for our late post from last week!

In literacy and our IDL, we had a busy week researching  Australian animals. We were learning to create a piece of functional writing so we researched facts on the ipads then wrote out our facts in our jotters. Then we worked in pairs to plan and create our poster. We also drew the animals and worked together to put together the poster in a way that would be interesting for our audience.

In Maths and Numeracy, we were learning to multiply. The strategy we have been practicing is using arrays. We have been working very hard at this and are beginning to understand multiplication more.

In art and design, we finished off our pudsy faces that we began last week. We were exploring the use of colour and pattern with this activity.

Another fun and busy week in P3IL!

This week in P3IL

We have done a lot of learning this week in P3IL! In literacy & our IDL, we have been working on our topic of Australia. We have been researching on the IPADs and writing down Australian animal facts in order to create an informative poster to share our learning from this topic. We are working in pairs to create our poster and we are looking forward to sharing our final creation with you in our snapshot jotters!

In Maths & Numeracy, we have been learning to multiply using arrays. It was brilliant to see the different ways our brains worked to solve the same problem. The question we had to figure out was,  “Four children each have 3 counters. How many counters do they have altogether?”

As we worked on the question, we learned to create an array with our counters to quickly figure it out.

We have had a full week of learning and are looking forward to next week!

We had another busy week in class! In Maths we have been working on place value and building 3 digit numbers. We have also been working on sequencing and number patterns.

In English and Literacy we have been writing our own acrostic poems and reading a lot of fun stories. We have read 2 stories about Australian animals being affected by pollution and how we can work to keep the animals safe. In French, we have began to learn how to talk about the weather. Here is some photos of our class library for you to see!

In Art and Design, we have been working on making symmetrical Halloween artwork which was a lot of fun!

Looking forward to another fun filled week of learning!

This week in P3IL

Welcome back from the break! This week we got stuck into some fun with maths as we practiced using our strategies to solve different addition and subtraction problems. We focused on working as a team to solve the problem and there was some brilliant team work!

In our IDL, we are finishing up Australia. We have now sent our postcards to Australia to our friends at the school there. We cannot wait to see what they think! We wrote to them on one side and put our pointillism Australian flag artwork on the other.

In English & Literacy, we have been working planning and writing a piece of imaginative writing. We had a photo that we used as a prompt for our story and came up with all sorts of fun and wild adventures!

We had a lot of fun in drama this week! We worked as a group and made plays based on different emotions then we performed them for our class.

It has been a brilliant week back and we look forward to more adventures next week!

This week in P3IL

It has been such a busy and fun filled term, it is hard to believe it is already October break! This week in Literacy and English we have been learning about the structure of stories. In particular, we looked at how the authors of stories may do different things to bring out certain feelings in us and how we can start to do that in our writing. We have also been doing some ‘thinking outside the box’ drawing while we listen to our class novel. This has been very fun! – “I liked when we were drawing while you were reading.”

In Maths and Numeracy, we have began to subtract using the various strategies we have been working on this term. – “I liked picking the cards to do sums.”

In our topic, we have been learning about pointillism art from Australia and have had a go at making some of our own pointillism art Australian flags! – “I  liked doing the dots in art.”

We had a lovely wee surprise in music when Miss Low had a wee go at playing the piano!

Have a brilliant break and we look forward to next term!

This week we have been enjoying learning more about Australia. In music, we made our own interpretation of Australian aboriginal music using drums and mimicking didgeridoos!

In Maths and Numeracy, we have been learning to use a counting stick to count forwards, backwards and skip counting in 1s, 2s, 5s and 10s. We have also been working in teams to sequence numbers between 0-100 and 0-1000.

In English and Literacy, we have been working on our love reading and have been reading stories to our new teddy friends.  We have also been working on our phonics, spelling and reading.

In Art we have been learning about pointillism art and have began to paint our own pointillism art Australian flag.

In RME, we had a brilliant day with Mrs. Jacobs making Sukkahs outside on Wednesday.

We had a very fun and busy week! Looking forward to next week!
