Welcome to Sunnyside

All About Sunnyside

Sunnyside School opened in 1894 and until 1998 was housed in the original sandstone building. In August 1998 the school extended into to the present accommodation comprising classrooms, library, nurture room and games/assembly hall.

Sunnyside School has a nursery situated on one side of the old building (after a purpose-built renovation of the old accommodation), and a kitchen and dining room on the other side.

The school has excellent facilities and resources, and a hard-working staff.

Sunnyside Primary offers after School Clubs which support and extend pupils’ and family learning, and also offers many extra curricular opportunities to pupils in STEM and sporting activities.

The school has an active Parent Council who work hard on behalf of the school.

We maintain good links with the community, including a close relationship with Westlodge Gardens and local businesses.

Our Vision and Values.

We believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn, to try new things, to make mistakes, to be able to learn from them and to be successful.

We should try to keep healthy and fit.

We have the right to feel safe at school and should be able to ask for help and know that we will receive it.

Everyone has a voice and our opinions should be respected and heard. We should be respectful to each other and understand that everyone’s opinions should be heard. Bullying, of any kind, is not allowed and will have consequences.

We are proud of our school and community.
