This week in P2W

What’s gone well?

  • We tried really hard in numeracy this week where we were introduced to multiplication. We were creating and counting equal groups and learning to write a repeated addition sentence (using ‘+’) and a multiplication sentence (using ‘x’).
  • We learned about what happens during the process of mummification and then through a cut and stick activity, put these stages into order. Ask us all about what happens to pharaohs!
  • We listened to a rap about counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and hope to get more confident with our counting.
  • We received a letter from Cleopatra’s grand-daughter who has been hiding in a pyramid for thousands of years! We wrote some letters back to her, telling her all about Scotland and asking her some questions of our own.

What do we need to get better at?

  • We think we need to keep trying our best not to be distracted in class time,
  • Doing more counting in 2s, 5s and 10s.
  • Knowing what long ‘A’ sound to use in words (ay, ai or a-e?)

What do we want to do more of?

  • We want to do more of our topic – Egyptians.
  • We want to do some more art and crafts.
  • We are really enjoying our class novel (Flat Stanley – Egyptian Adventure) and want to know what happens next!

Star moments

  • Getting a letter from a real pharaoh and using this to help us write  a letter back.
  • Working away at a quieter noise level during stations.
  • Pretending we are Egyptians through dance. Ask me how to walk like an Egyptian!
