We have had another fantastic week in P3Y with lots of excellent opportunities for learning.
In maths this week, we have been exploring using money. We have identified the different coins types and used various coins to make exact amount up to 10p, 20p, 50p and £1. Miss Young set up a pretend shop and had different items for sale at various prices. Using the coins we were given, we had to work out what we could afford and hand over the exact amount. We will be continuing our learning on money next week – ask us about the coins you have in your pockets over the weekend!
In literacy this week, we have revised our initial sounds and digraphs. We’ve practiced saying each sound, thought of words we knew that used that sound, then had a go at spelling the words independently. We have also started a new class novel this week, ‘The Day I Became the Most Wanted Boy in the World.’ We’re only on chapter 4 and so much has happened in the story already! We’ve been discussing interesting word choices and been having a go at using the new vocabulary we’ve come across in sentences of our own.
We have been learning about mindfulness and what it means to be present as part of our Health and Wellbeing lessons. We’ve practiced different techniques to help us rest, relax and reset our senses. such as guided meditations and considering our surroundings for a sensory scavenger hunt that we’ll complete next week. We understand the importance of taking time to reconnect with our emotions and allow our brains time to wind down and relax as we all live very busy lives!
Thank you for all your wonderful contributions this week, P3Y! Can’t wait for more fun next week!
