This week in P5/6S

This week in P5/6S we have had an artistic and ‘spooktacular’ week.

In Numeracy we have been working on adding and multiplying whole numbers and decimal fractions by 10 and 100. “I now know that when multiplying by 100 we add two 0s on” (Murray). We have also been learning to multiply and divide decimal numbers. “This can be difficult therefore we need to keep practising” (Eray) “but it is getting easier” (Sophie).

“In Art we were making a mirror image of our Halloween demon selves” (Mac). We practised our cutting and sticking collage skills as well as learning how to create a 3D effect using concertina folded paper.

We had another creative day this week where we did an art project learning about the Day of the Dead. We made decorated skull masks using patterns. We also learned how to say Day of the Dead in Spanish – ‘Dia de la Muertos’. (Tyler)

In Literacy we have been practising our listening skills by recognising words in our class novel. We have been getting lots of reading practise too. We have also been planning a letter to write to the Queen. “I want to ask the Queen if she can send me a certificate for writing a letter to her” (Eray).

In IDL we have learning more about Victorian times. We made a timeline showing important events that happened in the Victorian times and discussed what we want to learn next as a class.

We enjoyed getting dressed up for Halloween and there were some fantastic costumes and make-up effects in this class. Have a super Halloween weekend.
