St Serf’s Primary School is situated in the town of Tullibody near Stirling. From the school we have wonderful views of the Ochil Hills, the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle.
St Serf’s has a current roll of 184 pupils across 9 classes and an Early Learning Childcare Centre in a separate building adjacent to the school.
At St Serf’s we have been developing our approaches to learning and teaching, across all stages; from our Early Years Centre to P7, transition to secondary education and beyond. The St Serf’s approach to learning and teaching is designed to ensure that learners are receiving the highest quality learning experiences.

We are Proud of our School
Our school building consists of ten classrooms, an assembly/dining hall, an amply stocked library, a learning support room and meeting and office spaces. The school has extensive grounds, including tarmac playgrounds, grass playing fields and green spaces. A controlled door entry system and appropriate security procedures are in place. The school is pleasantly situated in the north-west of the village of Tullibody with open views to the Ochil Hills.
St. Serf’s Primary School provides a caring and purposeful learning environment. We have very high expectations of everyone in our school community through out values-based ethos which underpins everything that we do.
We are Proud of our Curricular Experiences
The eight curricular areas of the Curriculum for Excellence provide a broad, balanced and motivating curriculum for all pupils. Our curriculum is enhanced by a range of interesting learning experiences that allow our learners to develop skills in practical and relevant contexts. Teachers use these contexts well to support children to develop their literacy and numeracy skills whilst continuing to ensure creative approaches to learning are also used.
We are Proud of our Extra-Curricular Activities
Throughout the year, our pupils participate in many sporting activities and events such as local rugby, cross-country and athletics championships. Some of our pupils receive instrumental tuition provided by visiting tutors. We also offer after-school and lunchtime learning clubs in a wide range of areas. During the recent pandemic we were unable to offer these clubs, but now that restrictions are gradually easing, we are delighted to be able to offer them once again.
We are Proud of our Learners
St. Serf’s Primary School has a Junior Leadership Team. Representatives are voted by their peers on to the JLT with senior pupils supporting our younger classes. An annual action plan has been created to support the work of the school.
Last year we launched our House System. We have four houses – Wallace, Dumyat, Devon and Delph. These house names were voted for by the pupils and P7 pupils are elected as House Captains and Vice Captains each term.
We have Sports Ambassadors who applied for their post and are able to support Mrs Mitchell in the delivery of PE to some classes and help to promote and create opportunities for sporting achievement across the whole school. Our Sports Ambassadors lead Fitness Friday – held on the last Friday in every month – which sees the whole school coming together to enjoy a range of fitness activities led by our talented P7s including a “wake and shake” morning exercise routine which parents and carers are welcome to join.
Kindness ambassadors have been recognised in all classes – sometimes by staff and sometimes voted for by peers. These are pupils who have consistently demonstrated kindness towards others.
Our P7 and P1 buddies have had a great start to the 2022/23 year. They have worked and played together and availed themselves of opportunities to collaborate on some learning activities. P1s have been supported to settle in to school life and our P7s have developed responsibility skills and have all risen to the challenge of being big buddies successfully.
We also have our WOW Ambassadors leading the St Serf’s Travel Team. Pupils from P6 and P7 monitor pupils across the school, encouraging them to take active journeys to and from school, awarding badges, demonstrating road safety and leading events and competitions to raise awareness about the importance of road safety around school and the benefits of trying to be more active.
We are Proud of our Parents and our Community Partners
Positive partnerships are in place with parents who are encouraged to contact the school whenever they wish. Virtual sharing the learning meetings, school assemblies and … for parents create opportunities for them to become more involved in their child’s learning and development. We have a Parent Council – Friends of St Serf’s which supports the life and work of the school by organising a range of social and fundraising events. The Parent Council also arranges meetings to address issues such as road safety.
St. Serf’s Primary School has an Early Learning and Childcare Centre with around 40 learners attending. Each year we run a successful Buddy Club which pairs our P7 pupils with our new intake of P1 pupils. We have a good relationship and clear transition arrangements with our associated secondary school, Lornshill Academy. Effective links are also maintained within the local community, in particular our Community PCs and senior citizens resident nearby.
