We use these symbols to compare values.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Instead of writing: 5 is greater than 3, we can write: <strong>5 &gt; 3<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The symbol should always &#8216;point&#8217; to the smaller value.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>When this concept is first taught, the symbols are often linked to the visual of a greedy crocodile.
