Greater than and Less than are represented by the symbols > and < respectively. We use these symbols to compare values.
Instead of writing: 5 is greater than 3, we can write: 5 > 3.
The symbol should always ‘point’ to the smaller value.
When this concept is first taught, the symbols are often linked to the visual of a greedy crocodile. His mouth will always be open ready to eat the greatest value.
