Coordinates refer to the position of a point on a map or coordinate grid. We often use numbers positioned along the axes (typically called x-axis and y-axis) to identify a point. These numbers are the coordinates of that point.
The x-coordinate is always given first (horizontal) followed by the y-coordinate. They are separated by a comma and contained within brackets.
The coordinates of point p are (4,1) because you have to go 4 steps along the x-axis and 1 step up the y-axis.
