As a Rights Respecting School, St Bernadette\u2019s RC PS is committed to ensuring that every child\u2019s rights, as outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), are recognised, protected and promoted. Our relationships and behaviour approach is rooted in the understanding that:<\/p>\n

  • Every child has the right to be safe (Article 19)<\/li>\n
  • Every child has the right to an education (Article 28)<\/li>\n
  • Every child has the right to be heard and express their views (Article 12)<\/li>\n
  • Every child has the right to be included and treated fairly (Article 2)<\/li>\n
  • Every child has the right to play and rest (Article 31)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    We use the language of rights throughout the school to help children understand how their actions can uphold or infringe the rights of others. Class Charters, created collaboratively with pupils, outline how everyone will work together to respect rights in the classroom and wider school community.<\/p>\n

    Our Aim<\/strong><\/p>\n

    Our aim is to create an inclusive ethos in which we honour the life, dignity and voice of each person, made uniquely in the image of God. As a Rights Respecting School, we ensure that children\u2019s rights\u2014particularly their right to be safe (Article 19), right to be heard (Article 12) and right to learn (Article 28)\u2014are upheld in all aspects of school life.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
