The National MacMillan Coffee Morning event will take place on Friday 28th September from 9:30 to 11:00am in the school dining hall.
As part of our school curriculum we have incorporated opportunities for classes to lead on whole school events, to develop their confidence and leadership skills. Primary 3 classes will also be extending their understanding of charities through this experience.
Children are also encouraged to come to school on this day dressed in casual clothes for a small donation of 50p per child or £1 per family.
Any donations of home baking would be greatly appreciated and can be handed in to the school office on Thursday 27th September.
We look forward to welcoming parents, carers and members of the local community to this worthwhile event.
The Parent Council are holding a Bingo evening at Paton’s bowling club on the 8th of March. Tickets are £2 each, if you would like tickets then please complete a form and return it along with payment as soon as possible. Tickets for the event are limited and will be sold on a first come first serve basis.
In order to maximise the amount of money we raise for the school through this event, we are appealing to the parents of Redwell for any unused or unwanted Christmas gifts, or anything else you have that would be willing to donate to our bingo and rattle prizes. Any gratefully received donations can be handed into the school office.
Primary 2 and Primary 6 will be working really hard in the next couple of weeks to organise ways to support and raise money for Children In Need.
From the 6th of November we will be selling Pudsey/Blush glow in the dark wristbands and Pudsey glow in the dark keyrings. The wristbands and keyrings will be £1 each. Children will initially we restricted to purchasing one item each until every class has been visited and all children have had the opportunity to purchase something. Children will then be given the chance to purchase more of they wish.
On Friday 17th of November the whole school is invited to join in by coming to school dressed in a SPOTACULAR way, for a £1 donation. Primary 6 and Primary 2 will also be running a ‘Guess Pudsey’s Birthday’ competition, along with some other activities that are still to be confirmed, so please keep an eye on Twitter for updates.
The hunt for the round pound is also on. The round pound went out of circulation on 15th of October but there are still millions to be found. These can still be donated to Children In Need, so if you have any at home that you would like donate please send them into school in an envelope clearly marked as ‘Children In Need’.
Thank you for your continued support.
This session we have incorporated school events into our curriculum to provide children with a further opportunity to develop their life skills. They will take on leadership roles, demonstrating themselves to be confident, responsible effective and successful contributors within our school community.
MacMillan Coffee Morning and Non Uniform Day
Thank you very much to our P3 classes for organising and hosting this year’s MacMillan Coffee morning. This session’s classes will be taking whole school responsibility for events. Many thanks for all the home baking that you donated as well as your well-earned cash! We raised a grand total of £1157.30, exceeding our funds from last year, for this wonderful charity.
Rotary Shoe Box Appeal
Our P7 children are leading this year’s Rotary Shoe Box Appeal. You will have already received a letter with details, so please get involved with this scheme that supports children and families around the world.
Friday 29th of September
An invitation is extended to all parents/carers, grandparents and friends to make a contribution to our Harvest Assembly on Friday 29th of October which will have a Harvest Theme.
During the week beginning 25/9/17 we will be collecting various items (mainly packets and tins of groceries or fresh fruit and vegetables) which will be donated to The Gate charity. Please send any donations to the school office by Friday 29th September.
Unfortunately due to lack of space in our school hall, we can only accommodate our pupils for this particular Assembly but we will post photographs of the celebration on our Twitter feed.
We look forward to receiving a ‘bumper harvest’ next week. Many thanks!
Coffee Morning & Non-Uniform Day
We will be taking part in the annual MacMillan ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ on Thursday 28th of September (9.30-11.00). This is a fundraising event for the wonderful work of the MacMillan Cancer Support Charity. Our P3 Classes will be supporting the running of this event.

To add to our fundraising on this day, we will also have a Non-Uniform Day. Children are encouraged to participate by making a donation of 50p or more to come to school in casual clothes.
We are looking for any donations of baking for our coffee morning event and would be delighted to accept these on Wednesday 27th of September. Thank you in advance for supporting our fundraising for this very worthwhile cause.
