Deer Class

Welcome to the Deer Class!

This term our learning context is “We are Scientists”. We are interested to learn about forces, microorganisms, chemical reactions and mixtures. We are looking forward to doing really cool experiments linked to our learning context.

In the second week of term, The Forth River Trust came in and told us all about trout and how to care for them. Towards the end of the lesson, we were surprised to find out that we were going to be given some trout of our own to look after! Once they grow into fry we will be releasing them into a local river which is where they will decide whether to go to the sea or stay in the river.

Before Christmas, our learning context was “The Christmas Market”.  We had to set up and run a Christmas Market by:

  • Deciding what products to make and sell;
  • Researching where to buy resources for the cheapest price;
  • Making products and deciding on prices to sell them for and;
  • Selling the items and calculating our profit.

We were very proud to raise £121.50 for our school!

In term 1 our learning context was based around the novel “The Wilderness Wars” by Barbara Henderson.  This led to lots of discussions and debate about the environment. We were also excited to receive a visit from the author! Barbara came to Muckhart before the end of term and talked about how she wrote the story and gave us tips on how to write a good story.
