Thank you for visiting our class blog!  As you are aware, our class topic this term is on the Solar System.  Comment below, by writing down question which you would like to find out about our Solar System.  We will try to ensure that all questions are answered over the next few weeks.

We were learning about how the planets in the solar sytem orbit the sun and how they rotate.  We walked out the paths which planets take as they orbit the sun.  We had to think carefully about the direction and speed which the planets take when revolving and rotating.  We have been learning about the year lengths (how long a planet takes to orbit the sun) and day lengths (how long a planet takes to fully rotate) of each planet.  Ask us what we can remember from this lesson!

We again practised our skills with decimals using dice.  We used 10 sided dice to create random decimal numbers.  We then plotted them on our numberlines.  We peer assessed each other’s work.  We then completed a written task to ensure that we had achieved our targets.

We have been revising our skills when working with decimals.  Today we we looking at tenths and hundredths.  We drew large number lines on the ground and plotted decimal numbers on them.  This will help us with our place value and ordering fractions.

We have been learning about the moon phases.  We learned about the moon, how it moves in space and what it looks like from earth.  Vocabulary we learned about were – New Moon, Waxing Crescent, First Quarter, Waxing Gibbous, Full Moon, Waning Gibbous, Last Quarter and Waning Gibbous.  How many of these terms can you remember?
