Sponsored Walk/ European Day of Languages

We enjoyed the whole school sponsored walk on Monday. A big thank you to all the helpers who joined us!

Yesterday was European Day of Languages. We celebrated this by taking part in a whole school assembly. We have been learning a French song with P3B and we performed it infront of the school. We enjoyed showing off our dance moves and singing skills! We also completed research about a European country in class. We chose France. We now know the capital, population, area, where the country is located on a map, famous landmarks, some famous people, popular activities and food, the prime minister and the national anthem! Here is a picture of some of the Primary 3’s with our french flags.

15.09.17

The end of another busy school week. It was lovely to see all the parents/ families at the Meet the Teacher/ numeracy event last night. Thank you all for coming along. We have already had lots of offers of help for our P3 library mission from parents. We are still looking for a rug if anybody has one they no longer require!

In literacy we have been learning about common and proper nouns. This is separate to our RWI programme of work.  In writing we been learning how to incorporate VCOP into our imaginative stories. We have written underwater adventure stories after reading the story ” Sharing a Shell” by Julia Donaldson. Lots of super vocabulary and wow words were included in everyone’s stories.  It will be a difficult task picking Star Writers this week!

Have a fantastic weekend everyone 🙂

We have been learning about …

What a busy few weeks we have had! We are settling well into the class routines and have been busy earning lots of dojo points. So far Lucy C, Jessica, Finn, Romy and Lucy H have all been coupon winners. Ask us what we selected!

This week we started Read, Write, Inc again and are doing well in our groups. RWI takes place every morning except a Friday. Your child’s reading homework will be recorded/collected by the teacher they work with.  In numeracy we have been looking at numbers to 1000 which includes identifying numbers, ordering numbers and looking at more than and less than. We have been learning in both active and written ways. We have also been working in groups, with partners and independently during show me challenges with our mini whiteboards.

Our first big topic for P3 will be Under the Sea.  Pupils will use a range of resources to support their topic learning.  The film ‘Finding Dory’ will also be used as inspiration for our topic and pupils will use this story to not only learn about life under the sea but will learn about memory loss (links to dementia and alzheimers).

We have made an exciting start to our topic which is Under the Sea! Yesterday both Primary 3 classes engaged in an Expressive Arts afternoon. We started painting our plate aquariums and cutting out our felt sea creatures.  We are going to be using a range of materials (including glitter) to complete them later today.

Tomorrow will mark the first of our achievement assemblies so we are excited to see who our new star pupils are!
