Easter Message from Mrs Murray

Dear Parents/Carers/Pupils

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all so much, for your continued support and kind wishes during these unprecedented times.  It has certainly been challenging adapting to our new situation but I know that everyone is doing their best to deal with this in a way which suits them and their families.

I would like to thank our teachers for how hard they have worked to provide fantastic learning experiences for the children online and for the enthusiasm and engagement from our pupils and families.

As would have happened previously, school is now closed for the Spring Break.  Take the time to relax, recuperate and enjoy the time with your family.   School will be back online on Monday 20th April.

I will still be checking the emails, on a daily basis, so please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any concerns or worries.

Take care and stay safe,

Mandi Murray

Easter Activity – We’re Going on a Bear Hunt

One of our parents had heard of this activity which would be a lovely thing to do during the Easter Break.  If you have access to a printer, print out the attached bear (link below), colour in and display in your window so that families walking can take part in their own ‘Bear Hunt.’  Please email or tweet us any photos so we can share these with others.

Monday 30th March

Good Morning P4!!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!!

I have decided that Monday’s theme is Mindful Monday. Before you start your working today I want you to take a moment and think about the things that make you happy, smile and laugh. Treasure those things and make sure you do something that makes you happy or smile or laugh today!!

It is also health week this week so make sure to look out for health week activities to complete and participate in.

Seeing as it is mindful Monday, I want to make health and wellbeing the main focus today although there is a literacy task and a numeracy task too.

Health and Wellbeing

Power flower – Remember a while ago we all made a power flower in school? Well today your challenge is to make your own home flower power. I have attached a flower power template you could use. This flower aims to help with a time when you are struggling or upset and it is to give you power and strength within you to keep going and not to give up.
So in the middle of your flower I would like you to put ‘power flower’
Then in the petals put some positive mindset quotes. Here are a few example’s although I know you are all very good at coming up with your own quotes too.
‘Don’t give up’
‘Be a rainbow in someone else’s cloud’
‘Think Positive, be positive’
‘Its going to be ok’

(Alternatively in the power flower you could write your strategies you use which will help you if you are upset. For example, read a book, bounce a ball, draw or colour, sing a song, listen to music or play a game)

Positive mindset poster – Another activity today focussed around mindful Monday, I would like you to create a poster to promote a positive mindset. Think about the posters that were made for the Glee competition – Bright, colourful, and eye catching. I have attached a few examples for inspiration at the bottom of this post.

For today I would like us to continue to practise your multiplication times tables. For this I have attached a game to play. Copy the grid into your jotter. Roll 2 dice and multiply the two numbers and then colour in the grid. The first person to colour four in a row wins.

Fast finisher
If you finish the game why not make up your own version or something similar?

You will need a dice
– If you don’t have one you could make one or you could follow this link for a virtual dice.

Ok so today I would like you to start thinking about your story writing because you have such good creative ideas.

This weeks story title is.. The Tunnel

I have attached a story starter visualiser inspiration to help you create your own story.

Plan your story first ( you could time yourself if you wish) remember a good story comes from a good plan to keep your creative ideas focussed. You could use a 3 part story plan or think about our story mountain plans we use.

Then I would like you to start writing your story. However you have all week to finish it. You can type it up using word and attach it or send it to me on google classroom or you can write it in your snapshot jotters.

Have a great day!

Miss K Evans

Health Week

Good morning everyone,

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend!

We are going to be having health week at home this year and as one of our focuses is on the Olympic games I am going to set you all some optional activities based on this!
