An Exciting Day!

What an exciting day we have had in class today. Today some of us enjoyed sorting the dinosaurs in different ways.

The first was was done based on how many legs they stood on and then they were sorted by size.

A group enjoyed a game of animal snap, using their matching skills and practicing their quick reactions.

We created different people and enjoyed all the different, mixed up characters.ย

Another group had a go later on and laughed too!

We practiced some sounds… our new sound today was /i/ We found this sound quite tricky today however we will keep working on this one.

Busy times in P1!

Our Focus this Term

Good afternoon.

I canโ€™t believe we are almost at the end of our third week. We have squeezed a lot in but I just wanted to give you a wee update on what we will be looking at this term.

In numeracy โž•๐Ÿ“๐Ÿงฎ

We will be focusing on counting and number knowledge, including sharing. We will also be looking at simple directions and creating and continuing patterns.

In literacy ๐Ÿ“•โœ๏ธ๐Ÿ“–

We will be starting to learn to read by working on our phonics and begin blending words together. We will also be using the stories of Julia Donaldson as a focus to investigate stories and talk about our likes and dislikes.

In IDL ๐Ÿงฒ ๐ŸŒ ๐ŸŽจ

We will be focussing our learning around dinosaurs. We have got some questions we would like to answer and will be using numeracy, the arts and technologies to help us do this.

We continue to focus our HWB this term on keeping ourselves safe and our rights.

Literacy

Lots of exciting literacy learning happening today. We learned a new sound, โ€˜aโ€™ and practiced saying and writing the sound.

Later on we read the story The Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson and had a go at making our own paper dolls.
