Headteacher Update Term 2  2018-19

Dear Families,

We have been very busy after the October break with lots of brilliant learning going on! We really enjoyed showing the inspectors all the super work we are doing and you will receive a letter in the next few weeks which will tell you about our strengths and areas for development. Watch this space!

I hope you are enjoying seeing the photos on Dojo too. If you are not yet signed up, then please contact your class teacher or key worker and they can help you. It’s a brilliant way for us to open the virtual doors to our school and communicate with you.

Parent Council

The Parent Council are delighted to let you know £432 was raised by the Halloween discos. Huge thanks to our Parent Council and volunteers for their super effort and hard work. The Parent Council have also been successful in applying for a donation from Bargains and Bites for £300! This will go towards the cost of the pantomime in school in December. We would like to thank Bargains and Bites for such a generous donation.

Attendance

Attend today – Achieve tomorrow

This term I will be sending home letters to those children whose absence is on or below 90%. If your child has 90% attendance over the year then that means they will have lost approximately 4 weeks of teaching. You may also be contacted by the Attendance and Welfare Officer if we do not see an improvement.

Children who miss school can also;

  • Find it hard to keep/make friendships
  • Feel excluded and not a true part of the class
  • Forget what they have previously learnt
  • Have difficulty keeping up and maintaining progress
  • Not meet national expectations and standards

If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We want to help your child attend school every day.

Parking

Due to unsafe parking in South Pilmuir Road lately, and no pavement for our children, please note the gate there will now be locked from Thursday 8th November. Other access around the school is as usual. Thank you for your support with this.

Parent Conferences

We are looking forward to seeing you for Parent Conference Evenings this week. We also welcome children to come and join the meeting too. Please note though that all children need to be supervised and there will not be access to the open areas.
