P2P – Miss Paterson

This Term

Welcome to P2 at Abercromby Primary School!

We are continuing with our Read Write Inc programme and your child will bring home a reading book on a Thursday to be returned the following Thursday. Children will have read this book for 4 days in class already and should practise fluency and expression at home. Reading books should be looked after and kept away from water bottles. (There is a £5 charge for damaged/lost books.)

We will be using Sumdog to improve mental maths skills in class and this will also be part of your child’s homework each week. Their username and password will be in their homework jotter.

We are studying Houses and Homes with a construction theme this term to tie in with our new school build. The Glasgow Science Centre are visiting us on Monday 14th May for a whole day learning experience. Stay tuned for photos!

Important Dates

P.E –Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Please ensure your child has shorts and gym shoes which can be kept in school.)

Homework

Homework jotters will be given out on a Monday and homework must be completed and returned to school on a Friday. Children can choose which nights they wish to complete different tasks.

Reminders

Parents should drop off and collect pupils at the designated drop off/pick up point in the previous school car park.

If you wish to speak to the class teacher, please write a letter, call the office or speak to them at the end of the day. Mornings can be very busy and teachers need to get to class too!

We encourage children to drink water in school (not juice) and children may bring a water bottle to school to have in class.

Please ensure all your children’s clothing and accessories have their name written somewhere.

We encourage children to be active and cycle/scoot to school, however, children must walk with their bikes/scooters in the playground.
