St John’s P3 Visit – 28th February

On Friday 28th February P3 had a fantastic tour of the inside of our new school!

We felt very lucky to get inside the school!

Craig and Cameron made a great team and looked very professional!

We loved putting on our P.P. gear! Then Craig explained the site to us and told us what we would be doing.

We had lots of photos taken which made us feel very special!

We spent time in the P7 classroom and enjoyed looking out of the big windows.

We learned about the safety signs on building sites, then we worked in pairs to complete a quiz. It was great fun!

We asked lots of questions about building the new school and Craig answered them.

Councillor Forson and David Leng wanted to have their photo taken with us too!

We looked at the classrooms, the cloakrooms and the new dining hall.

Finally we left through the dining hall. We didn’t want to go!

P6/5 and P7/6 Visit

Two classes took a short trip along to see the progress of the construction during the week. First time as a group for about 4 months – it’s been a wee bit wet recently!

Last time we saw it there were lots of steel frames – they’ve gone and are almost completely covered in brickwork. Big difference!

Some of the childrens’ parents are involved in the construction as well – they recognised the vans, hence the picture!

We noticed the Anderson Shelter is still there.

We also noticed some of the asteroids that helped wipe out the dinosaurs (we know they are just big boulders, but it’s more fun with a good imagination). The children want to keep these as part of outdoor learning/play – hope the planners and builders read this blog.

We also went along to the Red Well from where the school gets its name. We are hoping this feature will be restored so that it looks nicer.
