Our Art Lessons

A couple of weeks ago me and my class mates were making paintings of the Ochil hills. It was fun. After we started it we got better and better. We were painting them using water colours, they are really messy so we were lucky that we didn’t get it on us. We also worked cooperatively and we really enjoyed working together. After we did our paintings we went into groups and we painted big pictures of the hills and then we let them dry. They are outside out class and they look brilliant.

We also made football supporters using chalk. Have a look at them on here!

A couple of weeks after we did big drawings of dinosaurs. The dinosaur paintings were really fun to make. We each got to pick the kind of dinosaur that we wanted. The kind that me and my friend picked was a T-Rex and I coloured it in brown purple and green, it looked really cool once it was finished. Then after we had all coloured in our dinosaurs we got a big piece of paper and we made some grass and some volcanos. We put PVA glue all over it and then we left it to dry. Once they were finished they looked real. They are really shiny.

We enjoy art and especially working together with Miss Peden

Music

During class at the moment we are learning about a musical called Jonah a fishy tale because we are going to the town hall to compete against other schools. There is a song that me and my friends like is called god’s love don’t stop and it’s a really groovy song that’s why we like it because it has a good groove that we can sing. That’s the type of tune we like.

We are practicing with the P4/5’s, Miss Gordon, Mr Jones and Miss McKenna and it is really good because we have certain bits of the songs that each class need to sing an our class bits are hard sometimes until you get used to it. The musical we are talking about is written by Mary Cliff and Kelly Fort.

The event will take place on the Wednesday the 13th of March 2013. Family and friends are invited, we hope you come along.

SSPCA Talk on Local Wildlife P5

At the moment in class we are learning about our local area. Two weeks ago a lady called Lee came to my class from the SSPCA and she was talking to us about the animals she had rescued locally and she showed us some of them on the white board. She also showed us some videos and the one that was my personal favourite was when an otter was pretending to be a blanket. I thought that was funny and Lee was saying when we were watching it, “I’m a blanket.” “Don’t touch me I’m a blanket.” I thought that was really funny and especially the way she was saying it.

We wrote thank you letters and some of us were asking her questions like if she is coming back to our school again. We really hope that she does.

Our Snowy Walk to Alloa Tower

On the 25th of January P5 walked to the Alloa Tower, it was so fun! We walked from the school to it. We went in a line, some of us brought a camera. We put our hat, scarf and gloves on becuase it was snowing. We got lots of pictures of birds and the Alloa Tower. All of us saw some marks on the Alloa Tower. Some of us know some facts, I will tell you one right now , there used to be a mansion joined onto it. Next week we are going into the Alloa Tower and we have lots of questions e.g when was the Alloa tower built?

We are looking forward to our trip.

Fantastic Mr Fox

In our class we have been reading Fantastic Mr.Fox.Our class have made WANTED posters for Mr.Fox.To make the colour of the WANTED posters we got tea bags and we dipped them in.We hanged them up and let them dry.
A couple of days later we got the WANTED posters down and then we drew MR. Fox on the WANTED posters down and then we drew MR. Fox on the WANTED posters because the farmers were trying to catch him. After the picture we wrote his name then we done a description for him. Next we wrote the description we wrote where you might find him. Then you had to choose a reward for who found him. Then we went in groups and we got given a character for each group. Our group got given Bean.We had to draw and think of things about our character. They are so colourful and some posters said funny things. They are all really interesting.Every person in each group tried hard. They all turned out fantastic like Fantastic Mr.Fox. For homework we had to make a poem, rhyme, chant, story or song about the three farmers. We love learning about Fantastic Mr Fox. It is a fantastic book.
