Troops, for Monday 30th Oct:

Discuss the development/significance of character, setting, motif key incident and symbolism in Book 1.  Include at least two references to links between elements of Books 3 and 1.  You may also refer to literary theory (Mikhail Bakhtin’s carnivalesque, for example) if you wish.  🙂
