French

French!!!

In school we have been learning how to speak French with our French teacher, Madame. Coles. We have been learning about what natural disasters and weather names are called in French! We’ve learnt the most common phrases like “il pluet” and “il y a du soleil”

When we first started weather we drew a person in a weather of our choice. We head to write what weather it was that we chose to do in French! We had to draw clothes that would be appropriate for wearing in that weather. We had people drawing snow, rain, sun and even ice! To make it even more of a challenge we had to use a French dictionary to search up clothing names in French! We had to name at least 3 items of clothing we had put into our drawing! These are some of the clothing and weather names we’ve learnt!

Not only have we been learning about weather and clothes, we’ve also learnt the numbers from 0 all the way to 69!!!! We’ve learnt how to pronounce and understand ALL these numbers! When we first started primary seven some of us only knew up to 20!!! Sometimes we’ve even played bingo! By playing this we’ve, 1. Learnt how to understand a French number when someone says it and 2. Had fun!

Next I’m going to tell you about natural disasters in French! We’ve been reading paragraphs about the natural disasters in French and figuring out what they say by using the 2 following rules. We can figure out words in French by… 1. Words that look similar to English words and 2. Words in French that we already know! Here’s some natural disasters in French:

Volcan- Volcano

Tsunami- tsunami

Avalanche- avalanche

Gouffre- sinkhole

Blizzard- blizzard

Ouragan- hurricane

Tornade- tornado

Inundation- flood

french-flag
