During Genius Hour this week P5S spent some time learning what leadership looks like in south park school.

Leadership at South Park School

During genius hour this week we spent some time learning about what leadership  looks like in south park school. 

We interviewed Mrs Taylor one of our SLT to find out what she had to say about being a leader and supporting the Visible Learning Coaches.

Morgan: What leadership role do you have in school? 

Mrs Taylor: Depute Head Teacher 

Morgan: What do you do to be a leader in school with visible learning? 

Mrs Taylor: Help and support the impact coaches who are learning all about visible learning. 

Morgan: What makes a good learner at South Park? 

Mrs Taylor: A good learner at South Park is someone that listens and helps.  They are fair and lead by being a good role model.

During genius hour this week we spent some time learning about what leadership looks like in South Park school.  Our group chose to talk to Mayson in P6 from the Pupil Parliament.  

We created questions to ask him and then carried out a little interview. Find out what he had to say.

Learning, teaching and assessment

Staff will work improving approaches to giving feedback in writing. This will support pupils make the correct changes to moving forward in their learning.

We interviewed pupils in P1/2S, P3A, P5S and P7A about their next steps in their writing. They giving next steps, looking at next steps, practising VCOP in class and using ladders.

Reflective Rattlesnake Videos

Staff will look at how to encourage learners to be more reflective and ensure they have time to work on their next steps.

We use Reflective Rattlesnake time to improve. In P4T We play games and have 10 minutes to practice something that we want to work on. We have a special page in our jotter for activities in the morning.

It helps to do it again next time

in P6both P6’ss go together 3 times a week, they do 1 literacy 1 numeracy 1quiz.  Pupils pair up with someone who is an expert at it and someone who needs help and work on it together.

Leadership/staff will share good practice in using digital Technology in class

We use lots of technology in our school and we were finding out what each class uses it for.

P1:  the Primary 1’s have been using their i pads and laptops for book creator and  google classroom

P3: the primary 3’s have been using theirs for power point and discovery education

P4: The p4’s used these for their story writing, power points, discovery education and google class room for their school work.

 

P6: in p6 they have used their digital technology for google class room and iMovie

P7: In Primary 7 they used the ipad’s and laptops for google classroom,powerpoint and word.
