Feel-Good Friday – National Galleries of Scotland

Today, rather than posting a Sway, I’m going to share some art activities from the National Galleries of Scotland.

Each week, throughout the lockdown, they have been posting ideas for creative projects for children, including mud painting,  spiral finding, map drawing, and bangle making.

Click on the link to find out more.  Don’t forget to take photos of your artwork and tell your teacher how you got on!

Home is where the art is

Have fun!

Anagrams #3 – Scottish Cities, Towns and Villages

In keeping with our ‘Scotland’ theme, here are some more anagrams for you to  unscramble.

This time, the answers are all names of cities, towns and villages around Scotland.  The majority are located in the North-East, though there are a couple from farther away.

Let me know how you get on!

Well-Being Wednesday: Mr.Mutch vs Mr.Reid #9 Scavenger Race

The gents are back… back to school!

Yes, teachers have been able to go back into school to prepare for when we all return. Mr.Mutch and Mr.Reid actually saw each other, without the Green Screen.

When they took a break they realised they didn’t have much to do. As most places were closed or that we had been told to avoid. So after a short discussion the teachers had an idea.

Tune in and enjoy this weeks episode of…

Mr.Mutch vs Mr.Reid

Who is ready for a Scavenger Race?

Your challenge this week is to go on a race following clues around Methlick. You start when you find the location of your first clue. Start the timer when you set off to find clue two.

Remember to take a selfie with the card at the final destination and send it in to your teacher. We will create a video of everyone taking part and send it out next week.

Where will you place on the Leader board?

MILD: Literacy – My Favourite Spot

This fortnight is all about celebrating Scotland and our Local Area.

We all love Methlick and there are many places to love Methlick. But each of us will have that one special spot. Somewhere that could have a great view or it could be somewhere that you visit regularly or somewhere that brings back memories.

In our writing we want to make a Mild guide of places to visit in Methlick, as described by you.

Follow the Sway below to learn more…

There is a PDF attached underneath which you can print or refer to in your writing. One side is for taking notes and planning and the other is for the your final writing piece…

Compare the Supermarkets – Spicy/Hot

Today’s maths challenge is related to our ‘Money’ theme.  You will be given a shopping list and challenged to find the best value online supermarket.

A minimum of 2 supermarkets should be selected, however if you wish a slightly HOTTER challenge you can, of course, choose more.

Instructions and a shopping list are contained in the Sway.

Ensure that you stick to the guidelines, and keep an eye open at all times for any special offers, such as ‘3 for 2’ or  ‘Buy-One-Get-One-Free’ as these offer good value for money.

Remember to post your results on Seesaw or write them in your jotter, and come back to the Blog to tell us how you got on!

Scots, Spanish & French – Languages

 Bonjour! Hola!

I hope you are enjoying your new topic for this week boys and girls. Since I moved in to Scotland I have loved everything about it, specially its language. That’s why with Ms Rees we thought it would be so fun to mix all languages and give you a try matching words to their language.

Here is a word document that will allow you to see the words you will be looking up, once you find the meaning in Scots, Spanish and French you put them in the column where they belong.

Vocabulary Chart

Activity

In this Sway you will have one slide for each language with the words mixed up, try and find to which language they belong. Below the Sway you will find 3 links to dictionaries that could help you.

Let’s Begin.
