Recommended Entry Requirements
  • Open to current S4/5 pupils:
  • These courses provide a pathway from school to college/university level education in
    subject areas focused on land-based industries, from veterinary and equine studies to food production and horticulture.
  • They have flexible delivery methods and a clear progression route from college and
    university to modern apprenticeships and employment.
Course Content

Option 1: Investigation of Modern Agriculture: This National Progression Award examines
the changing face of agriculture today, including the role of technology and precision
farming as well as opportunities for diversification. The course is aimed at those who have
an interest in the agricultural sector and who want to learn more about the practices of
modern-day farming and the variety of career options available.

Option 2: This online SRUC certificate is for anyone wanting to develop their knowledge of
all aspects of the animal care sector.

Assessment

The course is assessed through a series of online units, delivered online in schools by staff
at SRUC, assessments will be interactive assessments and final assessments. There are
no formal exams for these courses.
