Artist Study – Patrick Caulfield
Post by Mr Potter
In art we have been learning about the artist Patrick Caulfield and his use of the technique photorealism.
We looked at paintings of lights and lamps, to link the art with our science focus.
We noticed how his paintings were simplified, using few colours and simple lines, to draw shapes. This makes the objects look realistic, but in a personal artistic style.
We explored this skill by recreating his use of shape and colour. Have a look at our versions of his lamp and light paintings.
We are now completing our own photorealistic pictures. We took photos of electrical objects around the school, and have started to paint them in the same simple style that Patrick Caulfield used.

Author of the Week
Our author of the week book will be kept in the class library for pupils to read.
Each week Miss MacFarlane will photocopy children’s writing to be published in the book.
This will help to celebrate the children’s hard work and model good examples of writing for their peers to look at.
