Every learner in Aberdeenshire has the entitlement to the highest quality learning and teaching. \u00a0School staff, in partnership with learners, should develop a classroom ethos where everyone respects one another. \u00a0Across Aberdeenshire all learners should experience a positive learning environment that maximises learning and progress.<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Curriculum for Excellence (CfE) documentation and research share key messages which entitles all children and young people to have opportunities to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to adapt, think critically and flourish in today\u2019s world:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cTo develop learners who can engage and thrive in the increasingly complex universe of the 21st<\/sup> century: individually, collectively and in relation to the planet.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

And to do so while addressing equity and greater equality of outcomes.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

CfE, one of the three supporting pillars of the education system, should be considered alongside Getting it right for every child (GIRFEC, 2006) and Developing the Young Workforce: Scotland\u2019s Youth Employment Strategy (2014). \u00a0The three pillars of support present as a significant and coherent structure \u2013 a pillar for what and how children learn (CfE), a pillar to support children\u2019s well-being (GIRFEC) and a pillar to support children and young people into meaningful work (DYW).<\/span><\/p>\n

CfE places learners at the heart of education. At its centre are four fundamental capacities. \u00a0These capacities reflect and recognise the lifelong nature of education and learning.\u00a0 The four capacities are aimed at helping children and young people to become:<\/span><\/p>\n
