Have you ever wondered how to harness the enthusiasm children have for online gaming and Minecraft, but felt a bit unsure of how to use it in the classroom for maximum impact? Join us for an interactive session where you will learn how to use Minecraft as part of a lesson around the theme of Home Energy. Retrofit a residential property with brand new technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps, make choices with the budget you have available, and then test your eco credentials by finding out the green rating at the end of your gameplay. Skills Charity, Enginuity have created several games in Minecraft which introduce students to different industries and engineering careers, whilst always linking back to the curriculum and Gatsby benchmarks. Games always centre around green themes and sustainability and come complete with lesson plans, video tutorials, and student worksheets to give teachers the confidence they need. This facilitated session will give you the hands-on experience you need to feel confident to bring this back to your school. In the most recent testing, children give the games almost 9 out of 10 for enjoyability, and 94% of them know more about engineering after the lesson.
