Abdul Chohan

Abdul Chohan is a teacher of 20 years, director of ThinkSimple Ltd, founder of a free school in the UK, former CEO of a Multi Academy Trust in the UK, and Apple Distinguished Educator.

For many years, Abdul has been an advocate for mobile-based learning, and the application of effective feedback and assessment. He has spoken to thousands of educators around the world since 2012, helping them successfully develop, implement, and support digital learning strategies.

In 2018, Abdul authored “Digitising Effective Feedback” which was published in the Journal of the Chartered College of Teaching. This paper highlighted how effective digital feedback can help schools reduce teacher workload and deliver personalised feedback to students, while building deeper relationships between teachers, students and parents.

In July 2020, Abdul joined Showbie as VP of Learning. Underlying his approach to implementing digital learning strategies is the usage of Showbie and Socrative – which serve to highlight the importance of using simple and reliable tools to amplify learning. Both are effective at addressing workload, feedback, and creating impactful learning experiences – especially in a home or hybrid learning environment.

In his presentation, The DNA of Learning, Abdul emphasizes the importance of redefining the four core building blocks of education: Direct Instruction, Independent Practice, Feedback and Assessment – the DNA of Learning – in a way that fits the 21st century. This session will highlight practical examples of how you can apply technology to research-based approaches, to help drive and deliver on school improvement.
