Sculpture Designs

The Guardians of Hillside invite you to create an Oor Wullie sculpture design that represents Hillside’s Community involvement, Business Partners, Values, Aims, Diversity and cultures. All the children within the school will have the opportunity to share their ideas on a design template.

Designs to be submitted by Friday 22nd March 2019.

Templates for this will be available from the school office for anyone else or download this:

Name Nominations

The Guardians of Hillside invite you to think of an original name for Oor Wullie. The challenge has been set. The name should reflect the Community spirit and togetherness of Hillside and the diversity of languages and cultures within our school Community. Consider our School Values:  Safe, Kind, Happy, Respectful, Inclusive and Hardworking. Also our aims:

We have strong links with our business partners KCA Deutag and work in collaboration with The Mens’ Shed. Think of all this and all the Community Groups and organisations that make use of our school building as you create an original name. Everyone is invited to engage in this project.

Post your ideas here (comment below) or on Twitter @SchoolHillside1 or e-mail the school at:  hillside.sch@aberdeenshire.gov.uk. Closing date for name nominations is Friday 8th March 2019.

Thank you.

Meet “The Guardians of Hillside”

So here stand our very important “Guardians of Hillside” who are in charge of the Oor Wullie Bucket Project. Follow them on their journey to create Hillside’s very own unique “Oor Wullie” destined for the Oor Wullie Bucket trail in Aberdeen this summer.

Unveiling our “Oor Wullie”

The Guardians of Hillside were very keen to find out about their new role and responsibilities in leading Hillside’s Oor Wullie Project and to unveil him beneath the bubble wrap layers. Thanks to Mr Armstrong for his help with this task.

They then covered him up carefully and safely in “The Vault” ready for his big entrance at Assembly on Friday.

Meeting Oor Wullie

So, it all began when on Friday 22nd February 2019 when one of the guardians of Hillside met with a group of teachers from across Aberdeen city and Aberdeenshire in the Bonaccord  Management Suite and heard all about the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail. It was strapped in securely into the car and transported very carefully back to Hillside School.

Where he spent the weekend, safely in “The Vault” ready to meet the other “Guardians”.

Meet our special new Hillside friend.

Welcome to Hillside’s “Oor Wullie” blog. We will share our learning journey and the creation of our special character who is set for the Oor Wullie trail in Aberdeen this summer before he will return to Hillside- his forever home! The “Guardians of Hillside” will update this blog to keep you informed of what is happening.

If you did not see or hear about this earlier. Look at how we introduced Hillside School to our character live at Assembly on Friday here!
