Mark Beaumont’s visit

Beaumont1

On Friday 30th of October Mark Beaumont, a famous cyclist, visited our school. He was telling us about his great adventures around the world.

Mark cycled around the world completely solo, it took 194 days. He went to some of the most dangerous, war-torn countries like Iraq, the boarders of Afghanistan, Ukraine etc… He also cycled round some of the most beautiful countries to like India, France, America, South America and more.

He also mentioned the STV Scottish appeal where they made him swim and  run through Scotland, two things he wasn’t very good at.

He also holds a Guinness World Record for going right from the top of Africa to the bottom. It took him 41 days, 10 hours and 22 minutes.

He also did  a speech which basically said, ” If you set your mind to it you can do anything” which I thought was very nice

Gordon Primary Cricket Tournamernt

This year at the Huntly Cricket Pitch eight Aberdeenshire schools competed in a cricket tournament. The schools that competed were Huntly, Drumblade, Clatt, Cairnie, Premney, Forgue, Portsoy but sadly Rhynie couldn’t make it. Each team played  at least three games, each being played within five circles that fitted two teams with thirty minute breaks in between. Huntly got to the finals but lost to Drumblade by four runs. It was a great match and certainly a close one. It was a lovely day and everyone had lots of fun.“

Football G.P.S.

Gordon Primary School now has a new football team so we will be blogging about it throughout the year. The coaches are Mister Allardice and Andy Murray (not the tennis player.)  We are very exited about having this football team and it now has about 22 players. The football club is from 3:30 – 4:30 in the school field or in the large hall on a Thursday. The football age is P6 and P7. The squad says” We are hoping to win a lot of tournaments.” The squad is training hard. We are learning to dribble, pass, shoot, to have good sportsmanship and other important skills.
