Recently Ms Lenz, a visitor to Huntly and Scotland, has beenĀ teaching us someĀ German. When we interviewed her we asked her these questions:
Why are you here?
I am training to be a teacher
What is Germany like?
Germany is almost the same as Scotland but it is warmer and less green
What do you think of Scotland and Gordon Primary?
I love Scotland and Gordon primary and to be honest I don’t want to go back to Germany
How do Scottish schools and German schools compare?
The school hours are different and you don’t get marks in primary school in Scotland, but you do in Germany. In primary school in Germany you don’t have to wear school uniform, but in Germany you only have to go to school for four years and not seven, and in Scotland you start school at age four to six.
Was it hard learning English?
At the beginning it was hard learning English because of all the vocabulary that you have and we don’t in Germany.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future I would like to be a teacher in either Germany teaching English or in Scotland teaching German.
Have you learnt anything new from Scotland?
I have learnt a lot about the language, the people and the culture in Scotland.
We have enjoyed having Ms Lenz at our school and wish her all the best for her career as a language teacher. It will be shame for us to see her go but a great start for her and we hope for us to have taught her something that she can take back to Germany with her. Thank you Ms Lenz!
