Willow Weaving

Primary 7 pupils were very lucky to get the opportunity to find out about willow weaving and have a go.

Linda Lemieux, who lives in the South of England, has been making and selling baskets and other artefacts from Willow and rush.

She came into Gordon Primary and worked with the p7 classes.

She taught the p7s how to make a fish out of a willow frame, with rush woven around it.

She showed us how to gently bend the willow so it didn’t snap.

She also took groups of pupil into the school grounds to search for supplies of willow.

Thank you Linda! It was a fascinating day.
