The whole idea for this blog came during this term’s topic of Multiple Intelligences. We were doing lots of different activities but it was tricky to record them on our wall display.<\/p>\n

We decided that a blog might be a better place to share them (and work on a few of the intelligences at the same time!).<\/p>\n

We have been looking at 8 types of intelligence in class:<\/p>\n

We have tried to use a few different types of smarts in each lesson.<\/p>\n

BIG WRITING<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

For example, our last Big Writing lesson included drawing (picture smart), coming up with vocabulary about trees (nature smart\/word smart) and talking to different partners after moving around the room to music (mainly people smart, but also body smart and music smart).<\/p>\n

During the writing, some people used laptops (number\/logic smart) others used pencil and paper (body smart) and we listened to classical music (music smart).<\/p>\n

We don’t always manage to fit so many smarts into every lesson. However, the idea is that using the different smarts can help keep lessons fun and engaging.<\/p>\n

Activating all of the intelligences also helps students to learn, as we engage different parts of the brain when we use our different intelligences.<\/p>\n

Some students also find that mixing multiple smarts into lessons works well for them, especially if there are certain smarts that they’re naturally good at or enjoy.<\/p>\n

The most important thing to know about multiple intelligences is that we all have every single one of the smarts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Not only that, but we can also improve each of the smarts individually as well as use them to help us in our learning.<\/strong><\/p>\n
