Science in class

On Thursday and Friday p6/7 did different experiments. Some of them were with static energy and magnetic energy. My favourite activities were bending water, magnet jumping and having balloons sticking to me! On Friday we made ramps using books and wood. Next we rolled a tennis ball down the ramp and measured how far it went.  Then we made it roll further than before. Then we tried with a ping pong ball and a golf ball. We discovered that because the golf ball was heavier it rolled further.by Kate

SKI WEEK EXTRA DAY

Skiing people missed a day of skiing so we got an extra day on Monday the 5th of March. It was not very nice weather, it was a bit misty and windy. Luckily we could see quite well. It was a bit cold. the snow was nice and powdery and we did a nice jump. We also did much more runs than we did last time. We did Home Run which is quite a nice steady run. Home Run was icy on one side and nice on the other. One side of the road was powder and the other was icy. I think it was a good extra day of skiing.

Mrs Lethaby

In primary 6/7 we have student teacher called Mrs Lethaby. We have been doing gravitational pull and measuring a drop splat from different heights. We enjoy having her here to help us with things that we find difficult in our work.We are going to have Mrs Lethaby for two weeks Mrs Lethaby will be coming back in may for four weeks.

Weather

Last week the school got to go home because of the weather . We got to go home because the snow was coming down too fast . The week before we got 3 days  off because of the snow was too deep for everyone  to get to school .The snow has stopped us doing the 1 km  because the snow is too deep to run though . The school transport could not take people to school .It was good .

Play Leaders

This term we have got lessons from Shona Park about how to teach games and activities .We got about 4 sessions and got a booklet that we had to fill in .On the 5th week we had an assessment we had to get into groups and then play a game with the younger pupils .It was the p 1/2/3 that we had to teach them which was hard but that is one of the skills you need .I was in a group of 4 for the assessment so it was better then a 1 or 2. Hopefully I passed.

P7 Play Leaders Assessment

To pass the p 7 Play Leaders Assessment we had to organise some games for the p 1/2/3 s to play. A Play Leader is a person who runs a game a Break time for little kids. All groups had some difficulty in trying to get the little kid to listen. We had Active Schools Shona Park to teach us how to be play leaders. Before the Assessment we had four weeks for Shona to show us the ropes. We will find out if we have passed or failed on Monday 12th March 2018 at Assembly.

Science Day on Sunday

On Sunday the 11th of March Kate, Ryszard, Anna, Caitlyn and I went to Aboyne Primary School to talk about internet safety. It started at 1:00 and ended at 1:30. I did talked first, then Caitlyn, then Kate, then me again, then Ryszard, and then finally Anna. This was similar to what we did in school but with less people but we were louder. I did the intro then Caitlyn talked about cyber bullying. Then we watched a eight minute video. Then Kate talked about the do’s and don’ts of making an online profile. Then Ryszard talked about making a password and what was a good password and we showed the audience good and bad passwords and a password checker. Then Finally Anna talked about app restrictions and she did the end. I really enjoyed talking about internet safety on Sunday and I hope I get to do something similar again.

Science Experiments In Class

In class our new topic is forces and we are focusing on gravity, friction and magnetism. We were doing some experiments in class , so far we have done experiments to do with gravity and electrostatic force. For gravity we have dropped play dough from a certain height and mesuared the flat serfice. We found out that the higher you drop it from the bigger the flat bit is. We also rolled a golf ball, tennis ball and a ping pong ball down a ramp and saw which would go the furthest. For the electrostatic experiments we had a carousel of experiments that we went around  , there was lots of different experiments my favourite one was the one were you rub a tube on a bit of fur or wool and put it next to a can and it will attract the can.

P7 Hoodie Update

The P7s have made some progress in getting the money for our hoodies. We have decided that we are going to have a gadget golden time on the last Thursday of the term, and some of us have made some posters about it. Also we are going to sell tea towels with the small pictures of yourself that you drew a while ago, and we hope to get the tea towels arranged by Wednesday this week.
