The purpose of the project is to develop the skills and approaches used in the engineering design process (which can be viewed here: \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=b0ISWaNoz-c\">Engineering Design Process &#8211; YouTube<\/a> )<\/p>\n<p>The book also provides a context to explore aspects of Health and Wellbeing (resilience, Growth Mindset, self-esteem, perseverance) and promotes the themes of creative thinking, problem finding and solving, improving and adapting \u2013 which are all \u2018Engineering Habits of Mind\u2019 (please see page 3 of the attached booklet).<\/p>\n<p>The activities suggested for the project all sit within\u00a0 the \u2018Craft, Design, Engineering and Graphics\u2019 part of the Technologies Es and Os, specifically the \u2018Design and construct models\/product\u2019, \u2018Exploring uses of materials\u2019 and \u2018Application of Engineering\u2019 organisers.<\/p>\n<p>The suggested learning activities also provide opportunities for Literacy and Numeracy skills to be developed too and also link to some science outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>This story is also a good reminder that professions are gender neutral, and skills are gender independent.<\/p>\n<p>The story book is aimed at 5\u20137-year-olds, but lends itself in many ways to be used with older primary school aged as suggested in this project!<\/p>\n<p>The booklet sets out <strong><em>suggested learning activities<\/em><\/strong> which you may have to adapt etc to suit your learners in your class or STEM club.<\/p>\n<p>Information about the project can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/as\/public\/abshireprimaryscience\/uploads\/sites\/3774\/2022\/08\/18122739\/Rosie-Revere-Engineer-Project-v2.mp4\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The project resource booklet can be downloaded <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/as\/public\/abshireprimaryscience\/uploads\/sites\/3774\/2022\/08\/22105722\/Rosie-Revere-Engineer-STEM-a-story-final-version-August-2022.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n<p>An overview of the engineering habits of mind and the engineering design process is available<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/as\/public\/abshireprimaryscience\/uploads\/sites\/3774\/2022\/08\/22105659\/Engineering-EdScot-v2.pptx\"> here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Rosie Revere project uses the story book \u2018Rosie Revere Engineer by Andrea Beaty\u2019 as a context for STEM learning with an engineering focus.
