SSERC’s STEM by the Book is an innovative resource that draws inspiration from a variety of well-known and lesser-known children’s books, seamlessly connecting them to a range of practical STEM activities curated by SSERC.
Initially, they shared 10 sets of activities, and we will continue to add more to their website. Each activity is carefully aligned with its corresponding story and utilises easily accessible resources.
The book selections and associated activities cater to Early, First, and Second Level Experiences and Outcomes in line with the Curriculum for Excellence. They are designed to foster reading, listening, and speaking skills while encouraging learners to understand, analyse, evaluate, and investigate increasingly intricate ideas, structures, and specialized vocabulary for various purposes.
Experience the power of STEM and literacy integration with STEM by the Book, engaging learners and nurturing their curiosity through captivating stories and hands-on activities.
