Beginning Primary 1<\/h2>\n

One of the first educational transitions a child experiences is the move from an early learning and childcare setting to Primary one.\u00a0 This transition can be an exciting time for children, but some parents may have questions about whether they should consider delaying th\"\"eir child\u2019s entry to Primary one.\u00a0 The year in which the child starts Primary one depends on when they turn 5.\u00a0 Aberdeenshire Council\u2019s guidance around eligibility for requesting delayed entry can be found here:\u00a0\u00a0Apply for primary one \u2013 Aberdeenshire Council<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of our research role, Educational Psychologists completed a literature review of the available published research in the area of delayed entry to Primary school.\u00a0 These findings are presented here alongside some key things parents may wish to consider when thinking about delaying entry to Primary one.\u00a0 It is important that this document is read alongside Aberdeenshire Council guidance referenced above.<\/p>\n
