School History

The school was built in 1907.  It was originally a secondary school, but after a few years it was converted into a primary school.  Before 1907, it was in part of what is now the village hall.

This tree was planted in memory of Mr Whitely who was a head teacher at the school.

Train station

Originally there was a train station on the main Alford-Kemnay road.  People were able to travel into Aberdeen, stopping at several stations on the way.

Famous Former Pupil

Jon Whitely was a child film actor; he starred in a film called Kidnapped as well as many others.

In summer 2004 a bench was placed near the main doorway. This is in memory of the previous Head Teacher, Gillespie Munro.

This is a picture of P4,5,6, and 7 at the Aberdeen Music Hall in 2001, after their success in the Taylor silver Challenge Cup, for schools with less than 120 pupils.  Also the P1,2 and 3 had success in the class for Infant Choirs P1-3.The fabulous teacher who helped us win some of these trophies was Mrs Simpson! One of the best music teachers you will ever get!
