  1. When I was very young [ a very long time ago] I was given a lovely book as a Sunday School prize. I read it over and over again. I remember that the pictures made the characters seem real.My book is the fairy tale THE SNOW QUEEN and I still have the book!

  2. My favourite book is called The Day After Tomorrow. I remember borrowing the book from someone who advised me not to read the last page. This is something I would never do anyway, but I couldn’t wait to get to the end to find out what happended. I wasn’t disappointed! I really didn’t expect it to end that way. I have since lent the book to someone else but unfortunately, they haven’t returned it. I am desperately trying to find it to read it again!

  3. My favourite book is called A Little Magic for Barbara which I was given as a prize for being first equal in P3 when the primary school in Turriff was part of the Academy buildings. P3 was in an old sandstone house which was knocked down to build The ” new” Academy. The story was about a girl who found a marble which would grant her wishes. I read it over and over again so it’s a bit tatty looking now. I love books and still have lots of the ones I read when I was little.

  4. When I was a little girl, my favourite books were Winnie the Pooh by A.A Milne. I enjoyed reading the different adventures Pooh, Piglet and Tigger got up to!

    My favourite character is Roo. I used to feel sorry him because he used to try and get Tigger to like him and be his friend, but Tigger was too busy jumping around all the time to notice him!

    I still enjoy reading and can’t wait for P4-5/1 to share their favourite books with me and the class!

  5. My favourite book is A Squash and a Squeeze which was written by Julia Donaldson. The story is about a little old lady who thinks her house is a squash and a squeeze but, with the advice of a wise old man and the help of a few farmyard animals, she soon discovers that it’s not as small as she thought. I often read this story to my friend’s daughter. She giggles when the wise old man speaks which always makes me laugh too!

  6. My favourite book is The Bible. It is full of great stories and important lessons for life. I try to read some of it every day and I always learn something new, no matter how many times I read it.

  7. My favourite book is St Clairs or Malory Towers because it is about a boarding school and the girls always get up to mischief.I am reading St.Clairs right now, I am on fifth form at St.Clairs. It is the sixth or seventh, they are the best books ever!!!!

  9. My Granny’s favourite fiction book is Kane and Abel by Jeffrey Archer. Her favourite fact book is an autobiography by Sara Henderson and is called ‘Strength to Strength’. In 1991 she was named Qantas Business woman of the year.

  10. My favourite book is The Twits by Roald Dahl.It is about 2 people called Mr.Twit and Mrs.Twit.They play tricks on each and at the end there pet monkey called Muggle-Wump plays a big trick on the twits and turn everything upside down.This is the best book ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. My favourite book is The Illustrated Mum by Jaqueline Wilson. I liked reading this book because I never knew what would happen next and it seemed so real. Marigold was the main character in the book and she is called the illustrated mum because she has so many tattoo’s all over her body. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading a good story.

  17. My favourite book is Sniff-Snuff-Snap by Lynley Dodd.I really like it because when I was little we borrowed it from the library and I cryed a lot when we had to put it back.So my Mum and DAd bought me my own copy

  18. My favourite book would be Beast Quest #1(Ferno the Fire Dragon)because it`s absolutley jam-packed with action and adventures! It`s about this kid called Tom who is chosen by his village & his king to fight these cursed monsters. The monsters were supposed to have protected the village but this evil sorcerer called Malvel used a dark key to turn them all evil. Tom has to defeat (not kill) these monsters and destroy the key attached to them. The book is the best book in the the entire universe! If this book wasn`t made I would be bored stiff because I have read it millions and millions of times and have never gotten sick and tired of reading the same old story again and again!

  19. My favourite book is from when I was much younger. It is called “Tanglewoods Secret” by Patricia St. John. I loved this book and read it again and again, along with others by the same lady like “Treasures of the Snow”, “Star of Light” and “Mystery of Pheasant Cottage”. Some of my books were falling apart because they had been flicked through so often!

My favourite book is Artemis Fowl because it’s about a boy called Artemis Fowl and he discovers a fairy race that lives under the ground and they have amazing technology greater than ours.If you want to understand it you have to read it a lot of times but don’t read the last one until you have read the rest. I’ve got them all and and there is things that happen when you least expect them.

  22. My favourite book when I was a considerable bit younger was a book called Heidi,about a little girl who has to go and live with her grandad in the Swiss Alps. She helps Peter tend the goats and falls in love with the mountains. A really lovely story although a few sad bits! I think I still have the book somewhere.

  23. My favourite book is Sunset Song by Lewis Grassic Gibbon. I first read it when I was at academy and enjoyed following the country life of the main character Chris. I also love all the doric words used in it.

    When I was little my favourite book was called House by Mouse by George Mendoza. It’s about an architect mouse who designs new houses for lots of different animals. I just loved all the pictures of each animals unusual house.

  30. My favourite book is ‘The House at Pooh Corner’ by A A Milne. I love all the Winnie the Pooh stories. I like the stories because the characters are all different but they help each other out. My favourite parts of the book are when Pooh and Piglet are talking to each other.

    When I was little my family used to read to me at night and I still like to read before I go to bed.

    My favourite book is called ‘Beast Quest Kragos and Kildor The two-headed demon. Now it may sound scary but it isn’t really. It is about a boy called Tom who lives in Avantia and he is the hero of Avantia. He has to save Avantia asTaladon the swift turns animals into evil creatures to attack Avantia. Read the series to see what matters he has come across.

  35. I don’t really have a favourite book but I quite enjoy autobiographies and travel books. When my children were really young we loved reading ‘Spot the Dog’ books together. Reading with your Mum or Dad is great fun!

  39. I always struggled with reading as a child and so it took me a long time to get into reading as a grown up but now I am hooked again and I love reading. My favourite book as a child was the BFG which was read to me by my parents. But now when I’m not reading the BFG I love anything by Janet Evanovich or Trudi Canavan. They are both very different but both equally enjoyable. I hope you all enjoy world book day and keep reading.

  41. I loved the Famous Five books by Enid Blyton. I liked them because they were always having really interesting and exciting adventures. One of the characters had the same name as me and I used to imagine that I was her. Sometimes the story was so exciting,and I was so keen to get to the end of a book, that I would read it under the covers of my bed with a torch, long after I was supposed to be asleep. (Hope my Mum doesn’t read this!)

  70. My favourite book series is gossebumbs horrorland by R.L.Stine . The reason I chose this fantastic series is because it is a spooky,actionpacked horror series and I think it is brilliant .

  71. My favourite book is the Diary of a Wimpy Kid the Ugly Truth because it is funny. The funny part of it was he got an assignment to keep an egg like a baby but his little brother is very distructive so he put the egg in the fridge and the next morning it was his breakfast. The cover is funny because he is holding the egg and frowning at it!!

  73. When I was little my favourite book was Hansel and Gretel because my dad would read it to me. He would use funny voices and make weird faces and mum would get annoyed because I wouldn’t go to sleep.

They have a beach hut and they run a company where they try to get people who are single to get in relationship. I really like it because at some bits are really romantic.   82. My favourite book is called Chuffy and is about a steam train. My autistic son used to love it when he was little. We used to take it with us wherever we went as reading it was one of the few things that would calm him down if he was upset. In fact we read it so often that years later both my husband and I can still recite the whole book!

  83. My favourite books when I was a child were the Meg and Mog books by Helen Nicoll. The books were all about a friendly witch and her cat. The illustrations were by Jan Pienkowski and I loved the bright, bold colours and lettering used. More recently I read all the Harry Potter books to my daughter, it took a VERY long time but we were both hooked! J K Rowling uses fantastic words which help you create amazing pictures in your head.

    Mrs Booth’s favourite book is Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
    Mrs Garven used to love to read the ‘Alfie’ books by Shirley Hughes to her girls when they were little. It’s about a naughty little boy.
    Sandra in the office loves to read to her grandson and their favourite book is called ‘That’s Not My Puppy.’
    Miss McCulloch liked to read The Broons when she was little.
    And finally we went to see Helen in the office. Her favourite book is ‘Riders’ by Jilly Cooper.

  123. My favourite book is the worlds most famous fariytales. The reason is because I was in love with it when I was younger. It is also has a twist on each classic so it makes it so much more interesting. You would never know all of the stortyline because it wouldn’t just be the same story.

My favourite book is billionaire boy by David Williams.It is my favourite book because it is funny with lots of intresting vocabulary.The illustrator is Tony Ross who illustrates pictures in horrid henry also the pictures in billionaire boy are so good they are out of this world. I say you buy it because it is the best book ever for kids.

  127. My favourite book is Fantastic Mr Fox. Why I like it because they dug underground. Mr Fox got his tail shot off and they get pushed into the underground pipes by the water. Mr Fox fights the black rat in the pipes.

My fave book is Alice in wonderland because it has got lots of briliant ilustrations of Alice,the mad hatter,absolum,the twins,the white queen, the red queen plus the reds queens servants and castle are very strangly shaped but it is pretty inpresive. Alice in wonderland has very good descriptions for some of the things and my fave part is when Alice is going to the giant chess board to fight the jabawokie and she wins in the end by choping of the jabawokies head and the red queen is sent to the woods forever and is not aloud to talk to any one and the white queen is the queen of the whole of wonderland.

  135. My favourite book is hello kitty because it has games and lots of fun. Plus I got it for my Christmas and I got a hello kitty pen too. At the back of the book it has a hello kitty sailor and in the middle of the book it has when you are born and it is amazing. P2/3/8

  152. When I was a little,little girl, my favourite books were Topsy and Tim. My sister would walk with me to the library in Turriff and find their books. I remember I was always happy if I could get one home to read. I read all about their adventures, they would go swimming, to the park, to the dentist, they would go shopping for new shoes, go to the doctor,and the best one was Topsy and Tim start School. Now I like to read them to the children.
    If you find a Topsy and Tim, I hope you enjoy them too.

  177. One of my favourite books is Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. It’s about a boy who is lost overboard from his parents’ yacht as they sail around the world. He learns to survive on a desert island, but he has some help from an unusual old man. My class and I were all in tears at the end of this book last time I read it! It has a happy-sad ending!

  178. It’s difficult to choose one favourite book as there are so many good ones but one of my favourites is Captain Correlis Mandolin by Louis De Bernieres. I think it was based on a true story (always the best ones). It’s very romantic, has a really sad part but a happy ending.
