Parent Open Day

Last Friday afternoon parents were invited to come into school to see their children working in their classes.

Many classes were busy making crafts to sell at the PTA Christmas Fair and the parents were invited to help the pupils. P7s were busy sewing bookmarks, P6s were making sweetie cones and other classes were also very busy.

satrosphere trip

On Thursday p6b and p6a went to Satrosphere. They sang some songs on the way there and ate lots of sweets. At Satrosphere they got taught a lot of sciency things. A woman called Jen introduced “Science on the Spot” where they were taught things like if you get a small container and fill it up with water and drop a orange vitimin c tablet  in it , the lid would pop off .

Then, while the other class were doing “Science on the Spot”,  p6b went into the science lab and when we were in there Lola held a torch and Andrew, the person who was doing the theatre, held a lazer pen and we found out that the torch that Lola was holding was a lot more powerful than Andrews lazer because the normal torch would change colour, while Andrews laser was just be red and it wouldn’t change colour like Lolas. We also learned that if you take some fire to a balloon it would go BOOM!  PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME !!!!!!

When they got to wonder around they played on a bike that if you pedalled hard enough a model train would move. Also at Satrosphere there was a green screen that if you leaned against it your image would come up in black. There was also a thermal camera and a skeleton cycling a wave machine and lots of magnetic things.

On the way back everybody was tired but had had  an enjoyable and  jam packed day.

Satrosphere

P6a and p6b are going to Satrosphere in Aberdeen with Mrs Fitzpatrick and Mrs Mansell and a few helpers on Thursday 30th October . When we are there we are going to learn a lot about science. It sounds really interesting. We are really looking forward  to our trip because it is going to be very exciting and we think we are going to get to do a few experiments and learn new tricks and more information.

Summer Ceilidh

The Huntly Castle Tour guides and most P6s will be appearing at the Stewarts hall this Wednesday.
Last year The P5s did singing with Keith Cockburn, so to end the Summer ceilidhs the old P5s will be singing their Jacobite songs. Also the P6 Tour Guides will be doing a speech to get people to come to the castle.
The Summer ceilidhs are for all the family with lots of entertainment like singing, dancing and musicians.

Summer Tour Guiding

In the  holidays some of you guys would have been sunbathing while some people from  Gordon Primary were busy at work.  Each Wednesday of the holiday some of the P5s/6s delivered tours around Huntly Castle.

The tours were enjoyed by members of the public, including some chinese visitors who were delighted to see the guides with their sumptuous costumes. After school clubs and people from Huntly and the surrounding area also enjoyed the tour.  All the Tour guides had to cope with all weather conditions so that means they had to do it rain or shine, including some torrential rain showers! They also took part in the Room to Roam festival in the square (organised by Deveron Arts) where they sang “The Jacobite” accompanied by Keith Cockburn.  They also performed at the weekly summer ceilidhs in the Stewarts hall on Wednesday evenings .
