Prefects

Last year the P7s got a chance to be a Prefect but they have now left to join the Gordon Schools. That now means that this years P7s have a chance to be a Prefect.

Firstly any of the pupils from either of the P7 classes that wanted to be a Prefect had to write a letter to Mrs Moir stating why they would be a good Prefect!

There are now 40 Prefects in the school.

The prefect’s role is to help the staff in the playgrounds, to make sure everyone is playing safely outside after lunchtime , to help look after classes during wet playtimes and to set a good example to the younger pupils!

Learning Council

Gordon Primary’s new learning Council representatives introduced themselves at assembly last Wednesday and were presented with their badges.

They explained how the purpose of the learning Council was to improve the school. Each class in the school has two reps.

The Learning Council had their first meeting of the new school year on Thursday. Representatives were presented with a ring binder to keep notes and suggestions from fellow pupils.

Summer Ceilidh

The Huntly Castle Tour guides and most P6s will be appearing at the Stewarts hall this Wednesday.
Last year The P5s did singing with Keith Cockburn, so to end the Summer ceilidhs the old P5s will be singing their Jacobite songs. Also the P6 Tour Guides will be doing a speech to get people to come to the castle.
The Summer ceilidhs are for all the family with lots of entertainment like singing, dancing and musicians.

Summer Tour Guiding

In the  holidays some of you guys would have been sunbathing while some people from  Gordon Primary were busy at work.  Each Wednesday of the holiday some of the P5s/6s delivered tours around Huntly Castle.

The tours were enjoyed by members of the public, including some chinese visitors who were delighted to see the guides with their sumptuous costumes. After school clubs and people from Huntly and the surrounding area also enjoyed the tour.  All the Tour guides had to cope with all weather conditions so that means they had to do it rain or shine, including some torrential rain showers! They also took part in the Room to Roam festival in the square (organised by Deveron Arts) where they sang “The Jacobite” accompanied by Keith Cockburn.  They also performed at the weekly summer ceilidhs in the Stewarts hall on Wednesday evenings .
