Musical Lunchtime.

Last week the choir brightened up lunchtime by singing in the lunchhall. They sang “You are my Sunshine” and “Pack up your troubles” along with other songs.  It was a lovely change.

Next week they are going down to the Meadows Old Folks Home to sing to the residents.

Keith And Pam Cockburn

Before our  Easter holidays, Keith and Pam Cockburn came into Gordon Primary to work with Primary 5. The workshops, which ran over 4 weeks, were organised by Deveron Arts. P5 learned a lot of different songs including a few connected to their project the Jacobites. Those songs were called: Ye Jacobites By Name and the Skye Boat Song. Some of the other songs that they learned were called:Murder In The Chip Shop, Ye Cannie Shove Yer Granny, 3 Craws ,  Me Maws A Milionaire, Loch Lomand, Wild Mountain and many others. Keith And Pam were lovely people. Keith plays the Guitar, and Pam plays the Violin.

Musical Assembly

The whole school enjoyed a musical assembly on the last day of term.

The orchestra played as the classes came in, and also played a fsongs that they have been learnins during the assembly. Children (and staff)  particularly enjoyed the clashing cymbals during their rendition of Greigs “Hall of the Mountain King”.

Next we all enjoyed listening to P5 singing Scottish songs with Keith Cockburn, accompanied by Pam Cockburn on fiddle. They sang Ye Jacobites by Name and the Skye Boat Song,  and then finished off with Murder in the Chipshop.

More music followed with the choir singing for us. Among the songs were Alexanders Ragtime band and Annies song.

Orchestra Concert

On Monday the Orchestra had a concert for parents, teachers and family. Mrs Mcintosh, Mrs Innes, Mr Scrimshaw and Miss Barrere and pupils were playing.

The songs we played were Air on the G string, Chariots of fire, Pure e` Gent and the Water Music.

The instruments in it was Violins, Pianos, Trumpets, Flutes, Trumpets, Chellos and CYMBOLS. We used the cymbols for the puer e` gent.

On Thursday they will hold their own assembly for the School.

Christmas Carol Orchestra Concert

Recently there was a School Orchestra Christmas Carol Concert. The Orchestra enjoyed it as much as the audience. There were violins, a cello, a flute, a clarinet, trumpets, a trombone and a piano.

Here are all the songs they played below –

Deck the Hall, God Rest You Merry Gentlemen, St Anthony Chorale ( not a Christmas carol but very nice). Good King Wenceslas, Away in a Manger and Hark the Herald Angels Sing.

The Orchestra is also going to be playing at the church on Friday.

Nursery Sing Along

The nursery are doing a singalong for parents and carers. They are holding two performances today. They have been learning lots of songs for their performance including When Santa got stuck up the Chimney,  A chubby little snow man and Twinkle twinkle Little Star. They will  finish their performance with Jingle Bells. The audience will be invited to join in!

Good luck nursery  🙂

Schools will rock you

On Monday P6/7 classes and I went to Schools Will Rock You,  a musical put on by the pupils of the Gordon Schools. It was held in the big hall at the secondary and it started at half one and finished at three o ‘clock, but unfortunately we missed the end because we had to go home.

The story was about two people in love.  A lot of the cast wore tops that said gaga kids. There was lots of singing and dancing and it was great fun.
