Tree Planting 2013

Every class from p4 to p7 has been tree planting last week.We planted black thorn,hazelnut,wild cherry and pine and we did it in the meadows.We had to dig the whole with a fancy shovel and made sure the roots were covered and patted it down and then put a bit of wood what is called a stake beside it  and then put a tree guard around it. When we get older we will have fun watching them grow. I think every one had fun and so did I!

Sports Champions

This year P6\P7 are in the sports championships. The sports championships will include the following events- The long jump, high jump, 100 metres sprint, 200 metres, 400 metres and lots more!

Mrs Couldard, Gordon Primary School’s gym teacher has been doing the events and heats with us to train us for the races.

Gardening

Shane (P6b) had been in the Gardening Group for Hobbies. Ever since then he has enjoyed gardening a lot and  he is now the head gardener, working with Craig, Keiran, Thomas and Grant!  They are working very hard to look after all the flowers around Gordon Primary School!

They have been planting tulips and daffodils which have been placed around the school, in the entrance foyer and corridors. They have certainly given the school a bright cheerful feel.  They also planted some spinach!

We are working towards our Advanced and Mini Lifeguard Certificates.

It has been really fun and  we still have till May, so we have to try really hard to achieve our certificates and to do that we have to learn to

* Straddle jump

*Pull victims across water

*Treading water.

Plus so much more. Wish us luck!

Sharing Assembly

Last week  (13th March) Cameron and Katie from P6 told us about the Junior First Aid course that they had taken part in. They had learnt simple but important first aid guidelines, such as two different ways to help if someone is choking.

Well done Cameron and Katie.

Next Chris, Christine and Pietra told us how they have been busy raising money for Comic Relief by bouncing into school and home again on Space Hoppers. They explained how their journey has been made more difficult because of snow and ice …. and they have the bruises to prove it!  Well done Chris, Christine and Pietra for your  effort!

Finally P4A showed us what they have been learning about this term; they performed a poem “The Fight of the Year” by Roger McGough, complete with actions. Some of the class read poems that they had written themselves. Others told us they had been learning about electricity and learning how to make a circuit. They showed us models that they had made which had moving parts (a propeller on a helicopter) or parts that lit up (cats’ eyes).
