Fraserburgh South Park is an open-plan school, covering stages P1-P7 opened in 1971 and with an extension built in 1989. A forty place Nursery was opened in September 1997. It was one of the first open-plan schools built in Aberdeenshire. The original building comprised four main blocks (three teaching and one administration/dining), each linked to a large central games hall.
Each teaching block has carpeted teaching areas, tiled areas, toilets and cloakroom accommodation, plus their own entrances and exits. There is also a Library and General Purposes Room, the latter being used as a classroom at present.
The games hall of some 4,000 square feet can accommodate three badminton courts and is overlooked by a stage which has good sound and lighting facilities.
The Administration block, in addition to the Head Teacher’s and Secretary’s Offices, includes a Support for Learners Base, a Dining Room and a Kitchen, where approximately 200 meals are prepared daily.
The extension provides an extra seven teaching areas, quiet room, library area, computer room and work/resource room, in addition to toilets and cloakroom. It includes also a staffroom and rooms for both of the depute head teachers.
