Primary 6 have learnt a poem called Spik Nae Evil and this is how it goes:

Fit is it aboot spikn scots that gets fowk in a styoo if I spik in oor countrys tounge I’m telt tae shut ma mou in skweel the teacher tells me “say ‘good morning ‘not fit like ? ‘ “but fan we dae scots poetry weel I’m nae mair the gype My mither noo is jist the same it’s nae that shes a moan but I’ve tae spik the proper way or I nivver will get on but tell me this if we’ve a tounge Fit wye is it nae gweed? Fit ‘s wrang wi Scotlands language that fowk wint tae see it deid? Ill dae my best tae keep it gyan it’s oor ain tounge ,ye see an it’s gweed eneuch for granda sae it’s gweed eneuch for me.Hope you like the poem!
