P2 Visit to Verdant Works

P2P went to Verdant Works to find out all about life in Victorian times. All of the boys and girls said they lots of fun. Miss Paterson said that all of the girls and boys were on their best behaviour. They all felt happy because they played with Victorian toys. They liked the dummies that talked and the steam engines. They all dressed up in Victorian dressing up clothes. They liked sitting in the cinema. They liked being on the bus on the way to Verdant Works and they liked the food in the packed lunches.

P4F Reading Circles

We have been taking part in reading circles, they are really fun because you get to do reading with different people. We got to pick what books we read. We got a choice of things to do after we finished reading our book, these were the choices we got: to do a model, trailer, poster, drama, pictures and ICT.  These are some pictures of the posters.

Everyone enjoyed doing it. It was exciting to make the posters and read with your friends. We got to vote three books and our teacher put votes in a hat and pulled the names out to set our groups up.

P5 Fairtrade Visit

Helen and Jean came into our class from the Old and Abbey church. They explained all about Fairtrade and how it is fair to the people that make the products.  We asked them a lot of questions.  They could answer most of them but some of the questions were a bit complicated. They brought in a selection of Fairtrade foods and they let us have a sweetie or two and a juice box.  The prices of Fairtrade products were obviously dearer than normal prices because the Fairtrade products are handmade and normal products are not. We said bye to them and we got a photo.  After that we did a Fairtrade quiz and we got them all right.

The P6’s have had homework about Medieval Scotland and they had their own choice about making something related to our topic. They have worked very hard making these items.  The fab work is displayed in the upper area cloakroom. People have made castles, weapons, menus, games, costumes and battlefields. The P6’s would really like to show you what they’ve made.

The P6’s hope you like what they have created!
