All classes implement Daily 5 in our classes helping to develop all their literacy skills. We also start to talk about and use the description bubble to develop skills of vocabulary used to describe something.<\/p>\n<p>Here is video to explain this a bit further:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=ksOlWHh6TnU\">Description Bubble<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In P1&amp;2 we use a pedagogy called &#8220;Talk for Writing&#8221; and believe that if you can talk about it then you can write about it.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a a video to explain how Talk for Writing works to support learning at home:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=VI2OWdZo6nY\">Talk for Writing<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In P3&amp;4, writing development continues to develop the skills of writing that include grammar and punctuation and spelling. This is call the National Improvement Framework for Writing. Children complete a \u00a0&#8220;cold task&#8221; and through this areas of development are identified and worked on as a \u00a0class through our class work such as work on writing in &#8220;Daily 5&#8221;. We then plan our writing before we put pen to paper. We then complete a &#8220;hot task&#8221; and compare to our cold task to see the progress wee have made. Class progress is made visual so children can see the progress and work collaboratively to then identify their next area for development. We cover various text types over the year that are linked to our topic learning to provide relevance and engagement to our writing.<\/p>\n<p>In P5-7, writing development follows the Explicitly Teaching Writing pedagogy being taught the skills in writing different text types \/ genres.
