Mental health is how we <strong>think<\/strong> and <strong>feel<\/strong>, as well as the health of our <strong>thought patterns <\/strong>and <strong>behaviours<\/strong>. Sometimes we might need a <strong>bit of help <\/strong>to find strategies that make us feel better or we might need to <strong>talk<\/strong> about something that bothers us. We might need support, for example, with <strong>friendships<\/strong>, <strong>turn taking\/ social skills<\/strong>, <strong>emotional literacy<\/strong>, <strong>family upset<\/strong> or <strong>grief. <\/strong>The Hangout Team can support a child in different ways, including <strong>one-to-one<\/strong> or as part of a <strong>small group<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We are also lucky to have a team of <strong>Hangout Buddies<\/strong>. Our enthusiastic <strong>volunteers<\/strong> come from all walks of life, most having retired and looking to be involved in the local community. <strong>Hangout Buddies<\/strong> meet with children of all ages and for a variety of reasons, either individually or as part of a small group. This is on a <strong>weekly basis<\/strong>. A Hangout Buddy has a <strong>mentoring role<\/strong> in a relaxed context. This could be, for example, supporting our children with social skills or self-esteem through games, activities and crafts.
