S3.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>N5: Achieving level 4 in S3.<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Course Content:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>Pupils study 3 units:<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>Scottish:<\/strong>\u00a0The Era of the Great War, 1910-1928\u00a0<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>British:<\/strong>\u00a0Changing Britain 1760-1914\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0The Making of Modern Britain, 1880-1951<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li><strong>European and World:<\/strong>\u00a0Hitler and Nazi Germany, 1918-1939\u00a0<strong>or<\/strong>\u00a0Free At Last: USA 1918-1968<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>There is also an assignment for which candidates can choose a topic of interest\u00a0 related to the course research and then produce an essay style write up for assessment.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Assessment:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><strong>Internal:\u00a0<\/strong>Weekly tests based on the exam questions (results will generate a working grade for tracking purposes)\u00a0<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>External:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li>SQA Examination: 2 hours and 20 minutes, 80 marks.<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Assignment: 20 marks (a one hour \u2018write up\u2019 done under exam conditions and assessed externally by the SQA)<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Progression Pathway:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\r\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/an\/brechinhighschool\/curriculum\/social-subjects\/social-subjects-s5-s6-courses\/history-higher\/\">Higher History with a National 5 C or above.<\/a><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>Advanced Higher History<\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<li>History has transferable skills to the other Social Subjects such as Modern Studies, Geography and
